Our Lake, written and illustrated by Angie Kang, shared the story of two boys visiting a lake they swam in often for the first time without their father. In this picturebook, we experience the grief and feeling of revisiting a special thing that connected us to the person we lost.
Our Lake was honored in 2026 with the Caldecott Award as well as the Charlotte Zolotow Award for outstanding writing. Our Lake is a great book for students 7 - 10 years old who may have faced a loss in life and need some encouragement to keep doing the things they loved to do with that person even though they aren’t there anymore.
